Premade Website Theme Pack
Premade themes are a build decision, not a shortcut. This guide is the process we use to choose one, customize it without creating a maintenance burden, and ship it fast — theme selection, customization checklist, performance pass.
What you work through
| # | Part | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Theme selection — the 20-point scorecard and the questions to ask before you buy (fit, maintenance, performance, licensing, demo-vs-reality) | 45 min |
| 2 | Customization checklist — 40 items from child theme and design tokens to content, forms and launch, in the order that avoids rework | 60 min |
| 3 | Performance pass — the fixes that make a premade theme fast: demo-content purge, asset and font trimming, image pipeline, caching, third-party scripts | 45 min |
| A | Handover sheet and 10-minute pre-launch check | 10 min |
Checklists, not opinions
A scorecard you fill in per candidate theme so the decision is defensible. A customization sequence that keeps every change in a child theme or settings export so the parent can update safely. A performance baseline table (before / after) with the free tools to measure it. A handover sheet the next developer will thank you for.
Rule of thumb: if you cannot list the three things the theme does that you would have built anyway, you are buying decoration, not leverage. The scorecard in Part 1 forces that list before money changes hands.
